CENTURY 21 Atwood shares the story of Barb Eller, Onamia, MN

“Creating a community of caring develops into person to person caring, and expands into the whole world. Leading by example helps to create that community of caring.”

Congratulations to the October 2021 CENTURY 21 Atwood #relentless Neighbor, Barb Eller, from Onamia, MN.

Barb Eller, a Mille Lacs native, is certainly keeping her community’s eye on sustainable resources, and inspiring conversations that help everyone contribute. It all started on the farm where she grew up and raised her own food, and now it has come full circle. Even though she left for 25 years to pursue a career as an army nurse, which she retired from in 1996, the farm is her home. Barb is relentless about building local, sustainable food systems and resources that are not as easily affected by supply chain issues, and that give back to the community and help it thrive.

A strong belief in getting involved and finding the resources you need to get things done is Barb’s driving force. Looking for better ways to protect and steward our natural resources, or “gifts” as she calls them, is how she brings it all to life. “The world is a better place when we all get along and lessen conflict,” says Barb, and “creating a community of caring develops into person to person caring, and expands into the whole world. Leading by example helps to create that community of caring.”

Since Barb has started working with different organizations like the Mille Lacs Area Community Foundation, she has seen an increase in families moving to Mille Lacs and starting small farms of their own. This has been a highlight for the community as a whole - sharing experiences with new, younger farmers has been a great outcome, her full-circle experience.

We are honored to share Barb's extraordinary story and how her #relentless passion for giving back touches so many lives in our community.
